Physical activity sessions

The method developed by Rūdolfs Cešeiko is based on medical studies carried out in Latvia and Norway. Personal experience, taking part in and conducting studies has produced significant results, proving the positive impact of physical activities.

The body can be impacted at cellular level through targeted and effective physical activities In the treatment process, innovative exercise sessions improve quality of life, reduce fatigue, invigorate, significantly improve physiological processes in the body, strengthen health and facilitate successful recovery after treatment. During the sessions, each person works within their optimal intensity level, with consideration of their treatment process, individual nuances and physical capacities.

The key focus in the sessions is on cardiorespiratory system capacity and neuromuscular activation. People facing oncology usually substantially reduce the amount of their daily physical activities, hence their physical capability diminishes considerably. Epidemiological research has provided convincing evidence that aerobic endurance exercises of moderate to medium intensity and strength training 3-5 times a week reduces risk of cancer development by 20-50%, as well as substantially reduces recurrence of cancer. It is important that physical activities after a confirmed diagnosis increases the survival rate in 53% of cases compared to people who remain physically inactive. Furthermore, physical activities help to successfully endure the planned treatment course, regain physical health quicker return to normal everyday life.

TREATMENT OF LYMPHOSTASIS

Manual lymphatic drainage massage

Indications for lymphatic drainage:

– early prevention of lymphostasis;
– lymphatic drainage 2 months after operation;
– mastectomy;
– oncologic operations of the lower pelvis;
– thromboembolism prevention;
– post-thrombotic syndrome;
– venous oedema;
– post-traumatic oedema;
– lymphoedema of mixed origin;
– obliterating peripheral vascular atherosclerosis;
– sensory disorders caused by hemiplegia.

Usage of a special medical bandage.

Compression is the most effective and physiologically most suitable conservative therapy type in treatment of lymphostasis. The first stage of treatment is elimination of oedema – this is done with special compression bandages wrapped onto the arm or leg in several layers, applying a special technique.

Kinesio taping.

Possibilities for tape usage are very broad. Elasticity of tapes creates an effect of lifting the upper skin layer, thus creating more space in the subcutaneous tissue area comprising blood vessels, lymphatic vessels and all types of receptors and stimulating the flow of fluids.

In lymphatic drainage course, the optimal time interval for doing physical medicine procedures is 2-5 times a week. The course includes 12-18-26 procedures with a 1-2 week interval between the courses. Daily movement activities are planned. The procedure duration is from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Usage of essential oils significantly increases effectiveness of the massage.

One of indicators of successful treatment of lymphoedema is, for example, downsizing of elastic arm compression sleeve by two sizes within one year.

Taping can help improve micro-circulation in case of oedema, relieve pain, and support joint functions.

It is a modern method based on kinesio taping for pain relief, regulation of blood circulation, lymphatic reflux, muscular tonus and muscle/joint operation.
